ITC Sonar, on JBS Haldane Avenue opposite Science City, lists ten banqueting and meeting venues, led by the pillarless Pala Ballroom that divides into three soundproof rooms. One Pala section, set theatre style for 175, is a comfortable room for a launch with media and guests. Indian PR Distribution (IPRD)® can run the whole press conference here, or only the media at a hall you have booked.

Hall details from ITC Hotels' and Marriott's ITC Sonar pages, checked November 2026. Venue hire and F&B by plate count quoted on your brief, separately from IPRD's media work.

See what is includedITC Sonar sits on the Eastern Metropolitan Bypass, between the central desks and Salt Lake, which makes it a fair journey for reporters coming from either side of the city. The hotel lists itself as a short drive from the airport, which helps when spokespeople fly in on the day.
The Pala Ballroom is the reason most brands look here. Because it divides into three soundproof rooms of roughly the same size, a press conference can use one section for the presentation and Q&A while a second holds a product display, a lunch or one-to-one interviews, without the noise of one spilling into the other.
It suits launches that need a sense of occasion: a consumer product, a new model, a corporate milestone with guests. For a news-led statement with no display, a smaller room or Press Club Kolkata may serve the story better. See the press conference cost guide for how venue category moves the budget.

How we run it here
The news, the guest count and the result you need decide the room: Conference I for a briefing, one or two Pala sections for a launch.
We check the hall and date with the hotel's events team before invitations go out, and confirm the set-up, plate count and timings in writing.
Backdrop, speaker table, screen, sound and handheld mics for questions, with camera positions and power for crews checked on a recce.
Media list built by beat and language, invitations in English and Bengali, follow-up calls to every desk, attendance tracked and shared with you.
Media desk at the door, a moderated Q&A, one-to-one interviews, and the release with photos on every desk the same day.
Planning notes
We usually advise a weekday start between late morning and early afternoon, so reporters crossing the city can attend and still file for the next morning.
A clear sign from the porch to the hall and a person at the media desk, because a large hotel can lose a reporter on the way in.
A riser or a clear line at the back of the Pala section, with power for television crews.
Spokespeople ready for questions in both languages, or a colleague who can take the Bengali questions.
If there is a product, place it where photographers can shoot it with the spokesperson after the Q&A.
Release, fact sheet and photos at the media desk, printed or by QR code.
