What it is

Coverage you earn, from relationships we keep.

Media relations is the work of earning coverage: understanding what a journalist needs, offering a story worth their time, and being a source they trust the next time.

It is different from distribution. Press release distribution places your announcement; media relations persuades an editor to write about you, quote you or interview you. The first is guaranteed. The second carries more weight, because someone independent chose it.

IPRD runs both, which is why we can tell you honestly which one a story deserves.

What we do

The work behind every placement.

Journalist mapping

We identify the reporters, editors and producers who cover your sector, market and language, and what each one is working on.

Story angles and news hooks

We find the angle in your business that a newsroom can use: data, a trend, a contrarian view or a human story.

One-to-one pitching

Pitches written for each outlet and followed up with care, never a mass email to a list.

Interviews and briefings

We set up interviews and brief your spokespeople on the outlet, the reporter and the likely questions.

Bylines and op-eds

Opinion pieces and expert columns drafted with your leaders and placed with relevant editors.

Monitoring and reporting

Every mention tracked and reported, with what worked and what to pitch next.

Where stories run

National reach, regional depth.

We work across the formats and languages your audience actually reads and watches.

Route choice

The credibility layer in AI answers.

When a buyer asks an AI engine for the best options in a category, the engines lean on independent coverage: features, lists and interviews a journalist chose to run. Media relations is how that layer gets built. We plan it alongside sponsored distribution, choosing the route by the result you need.

FAQ

Media relations questions

What is media relations?

Media relations is the work of earning coverage from journalists: finding the right reporters, offering them a story worth covering, arranging interviews and keeping a trusted relationship over time. Unlike paid or sponsored placement, the outlet decides what to publish.

How is media relations different from press release distribution?

Press release distribution publishes your announcement on guaranteed outlets, as written, within 24 to 48 hours. Media relations persuades journalists to cover, quote or interview you, so the coverage is editorial and carries more credibility, but it is not guaranteed. Indian PR Distribution (IPRD)® offers both and often combines them.

Do you guarantee media coverage?

No agency can honestly guarantee editorial coverage, because editors decide what runs. We commit to the work: journalist mapping, tailored pitches, follow-ups, interview preparation and transparent reporting. If you need a guaranteed run, we pair media relations with sponsored press release distribution.

How much do media relations services cost in India?

Cost depends on scope: the number of spokespeople, markets and languages, and how many story angles we pursue each month. Retainers are quoted monthly and campaigns per project. Share your goals and we send a proposal after a first conversation.

How long does it take to see coverage?

Pitching starts in the first weeks of an engagement. How soon coverage follows depends on the news value of the story and the news cycle. On a retainer, results build month on month as journalists come to know your spokespeople.

Which media do you work with?

We work with national business and general media, regional and language media including Bengali and Hindi publications, TV news, podcasts, and trade and industry titles. The mix is chosen for your audience, not for volume.

Can you arrange interviews with national media?

Yes. We pitch interview opportunities to relevant journalists and producers, coordinate the schedule and brief your spokesperson beforehand. Whether an interview runs is the outlet's decision.

Do you handle press conferences?

Yes. In Kolkata we run press conferences end to end, including venue, branding and the media layer, or only the media relations part if you manage the event yourself.

Do you handle crisis communication?

Yes. Our reputation and crisis service covers holding statements, media response and balancing an existing negative narrative over time.

Have a story worth telling?
